[ 3 x 6 Bee ] - Beehive 2, for quirkygranolagirl

I found the pattern for this block recently and I've been wanting to try it out so using it as my block for the 3x6 bee was the perfect opportunity. It takes awhile to make but I love how it turns out.

quirkygranolagirl wanted a blue/green/orange block and those are the colors I've been working with lately both for other bees and myself so I did her block first for the 3x6 bee.

This is a bit dark but you get the idea. And my iron doesn't like me right now so this isn't completely flat which makes it look a bit wonky.

Modern 12 bee - block for Samilou1

String block for Samilou1 in the Modern 12 Bee. I'm going to use this same pattern and color scheme to make a quilt for myself because I've never used this color combo before and I think it's awesome. I've also never made a string quilt so two firsts in one.

I have a quilting retreat (that I'm actually in charge of, weird) coming up this friday through monday so I'll post pictures of everything I worked on once I get back. :)

Ocean Shores

Ocean Shores

I went to Ocean Shores last friday through monday to stay at a motel that one of my dads friends owns. He goes down there every once in awhile and talks about them but I'd never met them (or was to young when I met them to remember). They're fun, I'm going back this weekend without my parents to stay in their house and hang out. I figure I'll be doing a lot of embroidery, picture taking, reading, putting together puzzles with priscilla, etc. It'll be fun. :)

Leaving tomorrowwwwwww! I'm happy to get out of the house and actually do something for the 4th of July.

And yes, this is technically right side up. The heart is supposed to be upside down in the design.

I'll probably add words in that blank space to the top and bottom left at some point. I just have to figure out exactly what they're going to be

It's a band tattoo, which usually I'm against, but I've loved these bands for the last decade which is half of my life so far so I'm pretty sure that I'll love them for a looooooooong time or at least have a fondness for them.

Group 1 - July Beach/Underwater 3.5" block swap

This is my sunset that I'm making for group 1. They're 4" squares right now so I still need to cut them down. The background will vary since it's a batik. I kind of BSed my way through the embroidery since I don't know how to actually do it, but they look good! I got a book explaining embroidery stitches after.
I got these little crab/shell beads in Ocean Shores last weekend and I thought they would be fun to include. I haven't decided whether I'm going to sew them on or just put them in the envelope and let people do what they want with them.
They only had 6 crabs so I got 6 crabs and 7 shells.

Group 2 - July Beach/Underwater 3.5" block swap

Considering I'm in all 4 groups I needed to do something simple for one of them! I have to make 49 blocks in all I believe? 12 are done with these. Half with the dark blue background and half with the white and blue striped background.

June picnic/BBQ 3.5" block swap

My mom keeps telling me that I need to find a focus fabric and do something simple for these swaps. Doing something simple bugs me when I see what everyone else does, but here is something simple. Plus I waited long enough that people kept taking my ideas!

Here is a tree that you can pick fruit from and picnic under.
